Our Mission Diary

July 16, 2006

The last workshop of Children’s AIDS Health Program current mission to South Africa was held today in Tembisa at the Zimbanathi Community Project Office. About 25 children and youth, between the ages of 5 and 21, participated. The workshop inspired the participants to take part in challenging and thought-provoking activities. Many of them were not afraid to take on leadership roles and voice their opinions and thoughts. This encouraged Betty and Shamin because of the warmth and enthusiasm displayed by the youths. They enjoyed working towards a common goal with them. The youth are very aware of the HIV/AIDS situation. They were very interested to learn about Canada and the views of Canadians towards the AIDS crisis.

The initiator of the Zimbanathi Community Project, a man named Solomon, is heading to Toronto in August to participate in the International AIDS Conference.
