Shamin and Betty left the Holiday Inn this morning and headed to the Cape Town international airport. Although their flight was scheduled for 8:40AM, they didn’t leave until around 9:15. They landed at the Johannesburg International Airport at 11:15AM and traveled for about an hour to Pretoria, where they checked in. Then, a man named Martin accompanied and drove them to the township of Hammanskraal (approximately 45 minutes away from Pretoria.
In Hammanskraal, they visited the Bethesda Children’s Home, an outreach program begun by people from the United States. Most of the funding for the program comes from churches across the United States. Right now, there are three separate homes and each of these homes has a mother, a father and eight children. These homes help children who have been orphaned, abandoned or abused and try to bring them closer to God.
